In 1929, Dr. G.A. Nichols purchased land near Oklahoma City with the idea of creating an ideal area for families to live. He laid out streets that were not designed to be thoroughfares and set down permanent building restrictions. Many prominent families soon moved to the area, and the city was properly named and incorporated in 1931.
