Moore's History

.Moore was one of the many cities founded during the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889. Originally, the town was named Verbeck, but when railroad employee Al Moore had difficulty receiving his mail, he painted his name on a board and nailed it to a boxcar. The newly appointed postmaster saw the sign and decided it made a good town name. In 1893, Moore was officially incorporated.
