Located in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area, Bethany is a city with a population of around 20,000. The city occupies a total of 5.2 square miles of land. Bethany's History

In 1889, the area that would become Bethany was included in a group of sections that were designated as areas to be harvested for lumber to help build Fort Reno. After the forest was cleared, the land was opened up for settlers. In 1909, a settlement in the area took on the name Bethany. That same year, the Oklahoma Holiness College (later Southern Nazarene University) was founded in the area. One year later, Bethany was officially incorporated.
